Audio & Voiceover
Set track volumes, remove background noise from your microphone, record a voiceover after you record, and add sound effects.
All audio work is in the Audio tab of the inspector. The tab has two parts: Mix and Add.
Mix
| Section | What it does |
|---|---|
| Volume (this clip) | Sets the volume of the selected clip. |
| Tracks | Lists each audio track, such as Microphone, System Audio, Voiceover and Background Music. Each track has a Volume control, Mute and Solo. |
| Ducking | Lowers other audio while you speak. See Background Music. |
| Listen to Mix | Plays the audio mix so you can check it. |
| Loudness | Sets the loudness Target for audio enhancement. |
Open the menu of a track for more options, such as Audio Channels (Stereo, Mono (Center), Use Left Channel, Use Right Channel) and Show on timeline.
Remove Background Noise
Audio enhancement shows under the microphone track in Tracks. It runs on your Mac. It removes keyboard clicks, fans and room hum.
- Click the Audio tab, then Mix.
- Under the microphone track, turn on Audio enhancement.
- If the v9 engine is available, choose Noise Reduction or Studio.
- Set Strength. A strong setting can make the voice sound thin.
ScreenKite keeps the original audio, so you can turn enhancement off again.
Default engine
Choose the default engine in Settings → Audio → Audio enhancement:
- Always v9 (Noise Reduction) (default)
- Always v8 (Screen Studio Voice)
- Always v7 (Studio Voice)
A choice that you make on a clip in the inspector takes priority over this setting.
Record a Voiceover
You can record your voice after the screen recording is done.
- Move the playhead to where the voiceover starts.
- Click the Audio tab, then Add.
- In Voiceover, choose a Microphone.
- Click Record voiceover from playhead.
- Speak. Click Stop recording when you are done, or Cancel to discard it.
The voiceover goes on its own track. You can also right-click a timeline lane and choose Record Voiceover.
Replace the Audio
To use a different audio file for a clip, right-click the clip and choose Replace Audio.... Then choose the file.
Sound Effects
- Click the Audio tab, then Add.
- Open Sound effects and click Browse sound effects. The Assets panel opens with sound effects.
- Preview a sound, then add it to the timeline.
