    Scene Transitions

Scene transitions replace hard cuts between clips with smooth, animated effects. They make your recording flow naturally from one section to the next — especially useful for tutorials and product demos where each segment covers a different topic.

    Adding a Transition

    1. Place two clips next to each other on the timeline.
    2. Open the transition picker from the Add menu in the preview toolbar.
    3. Browse the available transitions in the grid layout.
    4. Click a transition to drop it between the two clips.

The transition appears as a small clip spanning the boundary between the two segments.

    The Transition Inspector

Select a transition clip on the timeline to open its inspector. From here you can:

    • Change the transition type — browse the grid and pick a different effect
    • Adjust the duration — drag the edges of the transition clip or set the duration numerically

    Tips

    • Keep transitions short (0.3–0.5 seconds) for professional-looking results
    • Use the same transition style throughout a video for consistency
    • Not every cut needs a transition — use them at section boundaries rather than between every clip
