    Split Clips

Split a clip at the playhead into two clips:

    1. Move the playhead to the cut point.
    2. Press ⌘B (Split at Playhead).

Or use the Blade Tool: press B, then click a clip where you want to cut. Press Escape or A to go back to the arrow tool.

When Group Edits is on (the default), a split cuts all clips at the split point. When it is off, a split cuts only the selected clips.

Right-click a clip and open Split for more options: Keep Both, Delete Left or Delete Right.

    Delete Clips

Select one or more clips, then:

    • Press Delete to delete them.
    • Press ⇧Delete to delete them and close the gap (Ripple Delete).

When Ripple Edit is on (the default), a normal delete also closes the gap.

    Trim Clips

    • Drag the left or right edge of a clip to make it shorter.
    • Press ⌥[ to trim the start of a clip to the playhead.
    • Press ⌥] to trim the end of a clip to the playhead.

A snap guide line shows where the edge will land.

    Edit by Transcript

You can also cut a recording by deleting words from its transcript. See Text-Based Editing.

    Undo and Redo

Every edit is one undo step. Your undo history stays with the project, so you can undo edits after you close and reopen it.

    • ⌘Z: undo
    • ⌘⇧Z: redo
    💡

Edits are non-destructive. ScreenKite never changes your original recording. Trims and splits only change clip boundaries in the project.
