    Record an iPhone or iPad

ScreenKite on your Mac can record the screen of an iPhone or iPad that is connected with a USB cable.

    1. Connect the iPhone or iPad to your Mac with a USB cable.
    2. On the device, tap Trust if it asks you to trust the computer.
    3. Open the Recording Hub (⌘N) and click Device.
    4. Choose your device in the iOS Devices list.
    5. Start the recording.

If the list shows No Devices Found!, check the cable and connect the device again. Use Quality Preset to choose Low, Medium or High.

    ✅

Connect the device directly to your Mac, not through a USB hub.

    Device Preview

During the recording, a preview window shows the live device screen. You can resize it and move it. To show or hide it, use Show Device Preview or Hide Device Preview in the menu bar menu.

    Automatic Device Frame

ScreenKite can put the recording in a matching device frame. It compares the size of the recording with each device screen. See Device Frames.

    Camera Overlay

The camera overlay also works with device recordings. Turn on Camera in the Recording Hub before you start. The camera records as its own track. In the editor, you can use Remove Background and the other camera effects. See Webcam & Microphone.

If the camera cannot start, the recording continues without the camera. ScreenKite shows Camera Unavailable: "Camera could not start. Recording will continue without camera."

If your selected camera is not available but another camera is connected, ScreenKite uses the other camera. It shows: "Selected camera unavailable. Falling back to camera name."

    Record an Android Device

ScreenKite can also record an Android phone over USB.

    1. On the phone, turn on USB debugging in the developer options.
    2. Connect the phone to your Mac with a USB cable.
    3. Open the Recording Hub and click Device.
    4. The first time, click Set Up Android Recording. ScreenKite downloads and installs the Android recording tools.
    5. Choose your phone in the Android USB list and start the recording.

Click Refresh Android Devices if your phone does not show.

    ScreenKite for iPhone

ScreenKite for iPhone is a separate app. It records the screen on the iPhone itself, with no Mac and no cable. This page covers recording from your Mac.
