Overlays & Masks
Add text, annotations, images and video on top of your recording, blur private content, highlight an area, and change the camera layout per scene.
Overlays sit on top of the recording. Masks blur or highlight part of the screen. Each overlay and mask is a clip on the timeline, so you can move it and trim it like other clips.
Add an Overlay or a Mask
- Move the playhead to where the item starts.
- Open the Add menu in the preview toolbar.
- Choose an item:
- New Text Overlay (T)
- Add Annotation...
- Add Media Overlay...
- Add Blur Mask
- Add Highlight Mask
- Add Camera Layout
- Add HyperFrames Overlay... (when available)
- Select the new clip. Its settings show in the inspector.

Outside layout clips, the default camera settings in the Camera tab apply. See Webcam & Microphone.
