ScreenKite takes screenshots too. You can capture a still or a long scrolling page, read text from the screen, pin a capture on top of other windows, mark it up and share it with a public link.

    Take a Screenshot

Start a screenshot from one of these places:

    • Recording Hub: click Screenshot. The list has Capture Display, Capture Window, Capture Area, Area with Controls, Scroll Capture, Capture Text and Paste from Clipboard.
    • Menu bar icon: open Capture Screenshot. It has Area, Display, Window, Area with Controls and Capture Text.
    • Keyboard: set global shortcuts in Settings β†’ Keyboard β†’ Recording & Global. See Keyboard Shortcuts.
    ModeWhat it does
Capture AreaDrag across the screen. The capture happens when you release the mouse.
    Capture DisplayCaptures the whole display.
Capture WindowClick a window to capture it.
Area with ControlsShows the selection with its size. Adjust it, then press Return or click Capture. Press Escape to cancel.

    The Screenshot Thumbnail

After a capture, a thumbnail shows in the corner of the screen. Hover over it to see the buttons:

    ButtonWhat it does
CopyCopies the image to the clipboard.
SaveSaves the file to your screenshot folder.
    EditOpens the screenshot editor.
ShareUploads the image and copies a public link.
PinKeeps the image on top of other windows.

The thumbnail stays while your pointer is on it.

    Share from the Thumbnail

    1. Hover over the thumbnail and click Share.
    2. The first time, ScreenKite asks Share screenshot publicly?. It uploads the screenshot to your cloud storage and makes a link that anyone with the link can open. Click Share Public Link.
    3. The button shows the progress: Prep, then a percentage, then Copied.

When the upload is done, the link is on your clipboard. If the upload fails, the button shows Retry. Hover over it to see the error, then click to try again.

    Connect Cloud Storage

Sharing needs a connected cloud storage account: Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive. If none is connected when you click Share, the Connect cloud storage window opens:

    1. Click Connect cloud storage. The ScreenKite website opens in your browser.
    2. Sign in and authorize your cloud storage.
    3. Go back to ScreenKite and click Share again.

You can manage the connection in Settings β†’ Cloud Sharing.

    The Screenshot Editor

Open the editor with the thumbnail Edit button, or with File β†’ Open Image to Edit....

The tools include Arrow, Line, Pen, Shape, Text, Badge (numbered steps), Spotlight, Magnifier, Ruler, Sketch, Redaction (blur or pixelate, with automatic detection of sensitive text), Crop and Eyedropper.

To style the whole image, select nothing. The inspector then shows the background, frame, padding and shadow settings.

To share from the editor, open the Share menu in the toolbar. When the upload is done, the Share Link Ready window opens with Copy Link, Open Share Page, Manage Sharing and Done.

    Scroll Capture

Scroll Capture takes one tall screenshot of a long page.

    1. Choose Scroll Capture in the Recording Hub, or use its shortcut.
    2. Select the area to capture.
    3. ScreenKite scrolls the content and joins the frames. Click Stop when you want to end.

Auto-scroll needs the Accessibility permission. Without it, scroll the content yourself.

    Capture Text

Capture Text reads text and QR codes from a part of the screen. Select an area. ScreenKite copies the text to the clipboard and shows Text Copied to Clipboard. If it finds no text, it shows No Text Found.

    Pin Screenshots

Click Pin on the thumbnail to keep a screenshot on top of other windows. Right-click a pinned image for Copy Image and Close. To close all pinned images, choose Unpin All Screenshots from the menu bar icon.

    Recent Screenshots

The menu bar icon has a Recent Screenshots menu with your last captures. Choose Clear History to empty it.

    Screenshot Settings

    Open Settings β†’ Screenshots:

    • Capture: Include mouse cursor, Play capture sound, Self-timer (Off, 3, 5 or 10 seconds).
    • After capture: Copy to clipboard, Save to file, Apply background to captures, the file Format (PNG, JPEG, TIFF or HEIC) and the Save to folder.
    • Scroll capture: Auto-scroll, Scroll speed, Detect fixed headers and Max capture height.
