    Import Screen Studio Projects

Bring a Screen Studio project into ScreenKite as a new project, and see what carries over.

    Getting Started
    💡

Prefer to have your agent do it? Copy this page as a prompt and paste it into Claude Code, Codex, Grok or Kimi.

If you have recordings in Screen Studio, you can open them in ScreenKite. The import creates a new ScreenKite project from your .screenstudio project, so you can keep editing in ScreenKite.

    Import a Project

    1. In ScreenKite on your Mac, choose File → Import Screen Studio Project….
    2. Select a .screenstudio project.
    3. Wait while the progress window runs through its steps, such as "Preparing screen video…". Click Cancel to stop.
    4. When the import finishes, ScreenKite opens the new project.

The import creates a new ScreenKite project (.skbundle). Your original Screen Studio project is never modified. If you cancel, nothing is left behind.

The Import Screen Studio Project… item in the File menu

    Supported Projects

    • Screen Studio 3 projects.
    • Screen Studio 4 projects, including 4.0.4 recordings that store their video as segments. ScreenKite converts these without re-encoding.
    • Projects saved by a newer version of Screen Studio. These import on a best-effort basis, and ScreenKite shows a notice.
    💡

To import Screen Studio 4 projects, use the latest version of ScreenKite.

What Is Not Carried Over Yet

Some Screen Studio features have no direct match yet. ScreenKite imports them as the closest equivalent and shows a notice:

    • Split-screen and cutout camera layouts are imported as picture-in-picture.
    • Screen Studio-only effects, such as camera LUTs.
    • Voice-overs.
    • The magnifier ("loupe") zoom style.

If anything could not be brought over, ScreenKite shows a short list of notes after the import. Check it, then adjust the project in the editor.

    Keep Screen Studio Installed

    ✅

Keep Screen Studio installed on your Mac while you import. ScreenKite can then reuse its built-in wallpapers. If it is not installed, ScreenKite uses a matching gradient instead and tells you.

    Next Steps

    • Learn the editor in the Project Editor Overview.
    • Review zooms in Zoom Settings.
    • Export your finished video with Export Settings.
