Cap is an open-source screen recorder many teams try because the sticker price looks low. - #1761 : Export exhausts VRAM/RAM and freezes. Windows 11 export at 1080p/4K reported as exhausting memory into an unkillable freeze.

How it is built
ScreenKite records and edits on the metal: ScreenCaptureKit, Metal, and VideoToolbox in a native Mac app. Agent edits use the same 83 purpose-built tools as the UI over local MCP. Some timeline and transcript actions take a propose call, then a separate commit call. The server does not wait for a human. The Core Agent chat panel is where risk-tier gating lives for that client.
