Is FocuSee worth it in 2026?
Not if you need audio that stays in sync. The complaints are on FocuSee's own public feedback board, not on a rival's blog.
- A user on v2.3.3 (June 15, 2026) reported: "the video track runs noticeably faster than the audio during full-session recordings. By the end of a session, the video and audio are completely out of sync, making the final export entirely unusable."
- In the same thread, Steven L (July 30, 2026): "This issue happens when you record a long form video and use the trim feature inside." Then on August 3, 2026: "Still no fix in v2.4." FocuSee's team replied that it could not reproduce the issue and asked for the project file.
- An older thread titled "The app is highly unstable and riddled with critical bugs" (April 25, 2025) describes export wiping a project: "After spending hours editing, hitting export causes the entire project to disappear—no confirmation, no fallback, no error message." FocuSee replied on that thread, and the thread is now closed. The 2026 desync thread above is still open.
What do FocuSee reviews say about refunds?
On Trustpilot, Laura Mühlbach (January 12, 2026) wrote that FocuSee is "totally buggy and therefore cumbersome to use," that the AI features "didn't work for me after cutting the video because everything got out of sync," and that "the refund process is a nightmare, now the AI support bot or whatever they have wants to fix every single issue I had manually, and the process has been ongoing for weeks now." FocuSee replied that it honors its guarantee and that human support steps in when the bot does not resolve a case.
The fine print is on FocuSee's pricing page: "If you have already used any AI Credits, their cost will be deducted from your refund." Try the AI features during the trial window and you get less back.
What are the best FocuSee alternatives?
1. ScreenKite
ScreenKite is a native macOS screen recorder with a native Windows Beta. It records and edits in one app, with captions and 83 purpose-built editing tools. Your coding agent (Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex, Antigravity, Grok Build or Kimi) drives the same tools you click, and agent usage bills to the plan you already pay for. There is no ScreenKite credit meter. We are real creators, and we wanted a recorder we own outright.
2. Screen Studio
Polished on Mac, but subscription-only for new buyers: its FAQ says one-time licenses are "no longer available for new purchases" (screen.studio). It also says there are "no near-future plans to add Windows support." Long-time fans are cancelling over the renewal, as we covered in Screen Studio Glass Loupe: creators cancel.
3. Rapidemo
A Windows 10 and 11 recorder with auto zoom. Its pricing page offers a subscription or a one-time payment that includes "One year of updates." It does not run on macOS today. macOS support is under evaluation.
4. Camtasia
A full editor, but TechSmith moved Camtasia to an annual subscription-only model starting with Camtasia 2025, with an online check-in every 90 days. If you stop paying, TechSmith says you lose access to the software. The same FAQ says exported videos stay yours, and project files can still be opened, but exports then carry a watermark. More in Camtasia subscription alternative.
How is ScreenKite built?
ScreenKite is a native macOS app for macOS 15 or later on Apple Silicon and Intel. It ships native macOS and a native Windows Beta. The agent and the UI drive the same editor through the same tools, so an agent edit is undoable exactly like a click.
