How to Add Music or Background Audio in Screen Studio
Screen Studio lacks a dedicated music-bed import path. Import your .screenstudio project into ScreenKite, drop the bed on an audio track, duck under speech, and export once.
How to Add Music or Background Audio in Screen Studio
Silent product demos feel unfinished on social. Course intros feel cold without a soft bed. Launch videos want a sting into the logo. You already have a licensed MP3 — you just need it under the recording, quieter than the voice, timed to the cuts.
In Screen Studio that collides with the same Hub gap as voiceover: Import audio. There is no polished first-class “add music bed” track workflow.
You do not need to play music into system audio during capture or mix after a dead-end export.
Short answer
Import the Screen Studio project into ScreenKite, then place the music bed on an audio track and duck it under speech.
In ScreenKite, import preserves zooms, cursor motion, and timing. Background audio is then a normal multi-track edit.
Do it in ScreenKite (numbered)
- Open ScreenKite.
- Choose File → Import Screen Studio project and select your
.screenstudiobundle. - File → Import Media… and select the music file, or drag it onto an audio track.
- Place the bed from the start, or only under the intro/outro.
- Lower clip gain so speech stays intelligible (ScreenKite also offers voice ducking in Editor Settings when you want the bed to dip automatically while you speak).
- Trim the bed to end cleanly — on a beat or with a fade before the CTA.
- Export one MP4. Pro removes the watermark.
- Share via your own Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive.
Pair with a separate VO track when narration was recorded later. Mute embedded audio on B-roll inserts that fight the bed.
Only use music you have rights to. A timeline makes it easy to swap beds when a license ends — another reason not to bake tracks into a disposable export from a lightweight editor.
Music vs voiceover vs system audio
| Layer | Purpose | Typical source |
|---|---|---|
| System / app audio | What the product plays | Captured during recording |
| Voiceover / mic | What you say | Mic take or imported VO |
| Music / SFX bed | Emotion and pace | Imported MP3/WAV, ducked under speech |
Screen Studio’s positioning — screen recorder + lightweight editor per llms.txt — emphasizes capture polish and sharing. Music beds are an audio-timeline problem, which is why Import audio stays on the Hub.
Why ScreenKite
ScreenKite is a native macOS screen recorder with a native Windows Beta and multi-track audio beside the recorder. Import Screen Studio polish, drop the bed, duck, export.
Ask the AI agent to remove dead air so the bed does not noodle under silence. Power users can drive the same editor through MCP or the CLI.
Pricing contrast (product facts)
Screen Studio–class tools often push an annual subscription while audio import remains a Hub item. ScreenKite is free to use with a watermark on exports, and a one-time Pro purchase removes it. Export the MP4 and share from cloud storage you already own.
Any downsides? The only downside is there's almost no downside. We're video creators ourselves, so we know exactly what you need.
ScreenKite runs natively on macOS and ships a native Windows Beta. Creators and teams choose it for fast local exports and timeline editing with the AI agent they already use: Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex, Antigravity, Grok Build or Kimi. Describe the cut, and the agent does the trims.
Tips for beds that do not fight speech
- Prefer instrumental beds under tutorials — lyrics compete with narration.
- Keep an alternate quiet bed for dense UI chapters.
- Reuse the same bed levels across a course once you like the mix.
- Fade out before the final CTA card rather than cutting mid-bar.
Conclusion
Background audio is how demos feel finished. When import audio is still a Hub item, import the .screenstudio project into ScreenKite, duck the bed, export once, and share from your own Drive.
