    Who makes ScreenKite?

We do. We are real creators who record and edit video ourselves, and we built ScreenKite on one rule: you should own the tool you record with. We are on your side of the bill, so ScreenKite never renews.

What do you get for free?

Unlimited recording and every editing feature. The free tier puts a brand watermark and an animated brand outro on exports. Pro removes both, adds S3 compatible upload and priority support. An account is required for both.

    Is ScreenKite Pro worth $79.99?

Do the three-year math. Screen Studio and Camtasia bill every year. TechSmith's subscription FAQ says Camtasia users who stop paying "lose access to the software." The same FAQ says exported Camtasia videos stay yours, and project files can still be opened, but exports then carry a watermark. Screen Studio fans are leaving over the renewal: @johnjoubert (October 13, 2026) "had to cancel my annual plan. It just doesn't make sense anymore, which is sad because I actually really like the product."

ScreenKite Pro is one payment for 3 devices. Year two and year three cost nothing more. Our three-year cost table walks through the math.

Does ScreenKite work with Claude Code and other AI agents?

Yes. ScreenKite exposes 83 purpose-built editing tools, shaped by tens of thousands of hours of video-editing practice, over local MCP and the screenkite CLI. Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex, Antigravity, Grok Build and Kimi can drive it. Agent usage bills to the plan you already pay for; ScreenKite charges $0 for AI.

Named edits propose first: a timeline cut, transcript cuts (cutSilences, removeWords, removeDeadAir), generated chapters, caption import and patch, and voiceover or camera replacement return a plan on confirm:false and apply on confirm:true. Track and asset removals take no confirm. The Core Agent chat panel gates on each tool's risk tier; the CLI and third-party MCP clients are not gated.

    How is ScreenKite built?

ScreenKite is a native macOS app. The 2.1.8 universal build is a 213 MB download. It ships native macOS (macOS 15 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel) and a native Windows Beta. The editor exposes 83 purpose-built editing tools, shaped by tens of thousands of hours of video-editing practice. Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex, Antigravity, Grok Build or Kimi drive those tools, and the ScreenKite AI fee is $0.

Screen Studio 4.0.1 is an Electron app. That build's download is 720 MB.
