How to Record a Google Meet on Mac (Screen and System Audio)
Google Meet's own recorder needs a Workspace plan and host permission, and it saves to Drive. Here is how to record the Meet window on your Mac with system audio and your microphone, then edit locally in ScreenKite.
Short answer: record the Google Meet window on your Mac. Capture system audio for the other people and your microphone for you. ScreenKite saves the file on disk so you can trim it on a timeline without waiting on Drive.

Why doesn't Meet's own recorder always work?
Google's Meet recording help limits built-in recording to certain Google Workspace editions and to hosts who have permission. The file lands in the organizer's Drive, in a Google Meet folder. Meetings stop recording after 8 hours. Participants see a notice when that recorder starts.
If your plan has no recording, or you are not the host, or you want a local file you can cut the same day, record the screen on the Mac instead. Tell the people on the call that you are recording.
How does a local recording compare with Meet's own recorder?
| Need | Meet built-in recorder | ScreenKite |
|---|---|---|
| Who can start it | Host, on listed Workspace editions (Google) | Anyone who can see the window on their Mac |
| Where the file lands | Organizer's Drive | A project on your Mac |
| After the call | Download from Drive | Cut on a timeline the same day |
| Notice | Participants see Meet's notice | Tell the group you are recording |
