CursorClip vs ScreenKite: What Their Own Changelog Says About macOS 13 and Export

CursorClip's 2.1.0 changelog admits Record did nothing on macOS 13 from 2.0 until Oct 18, 2026, the same window their vs-ScreenKite Ventura pitch used. Here is that record, the other shipped fixes, pricing, and how ScreenKite compares.

CursorClip's own vs ScreenKite page leans on a clear pitch: it runs on macOS 13.5 Ventura, where ScreenKite needs macOS 15. That pitch sat next to a broken Record button on Ventura for about a month. CursorClip's changelog says so.

    💡

ScreenKite is free to use. Every editing feature is free. One payment of $79.99 removes the export watermark, covers 3 devices and never renews. Founder price until 2026-10-31, then $99.99. Native on Apple Silicon and Intel. Try ScreenKite

We are a creator team shipping ScreenKite. This post sticks to CursorClip's published changelog and pricing page, then states what ScreenKite actually offers today.

The Ventura claim, and what Record did from 2.0 to 2.1.0

CursorClip 2.0 shipped on Sept 15, 2026. Their vs-ScreenKite article is dated Oct 2, 2026 (updated Oct 3). Their strongest platform argument there is Ventura support.

On Oct 18, 2026, CursorClip 2.1.0's changelog stated, in their words:

Recording on macOS 13 works again: Since 2.0, Record could do nothing on macOS 13. It works again.

So from 2.0 through 2.1.0, for about five weeks, Record on macOS 13 did nothing. That window includes the vs-ScreenKite post. The fix is welcome. The admission is the fact that matters for anyone who chose CursorClip for Ventura.

Other bugs CursorClip listed as fixed

Same changelog trail. These are vendor admissions, not third-party rumors.

    2.1.0 (Oct 18, 2026)

    • "Your license stays active: A work, school or hotel network that blocks CursorClip no longer turns it off."
    • "The export matches the preview: Cursor, zooms, shadows, colors, on-screen keys and sound match the editor."
    • Trim and cut projects from 2.1.0 will not open in 2.0.4.

    2.0.4 (Oct 4, 2026)

    • "Since 2.0, recordings could look slightly lighter and less saturated than your screen."
    • Recordings without a camera no longer "get stuck with a 'Camera media is needed' message when you export."

    2.0.2 (Sep 19, 2026)

    • "Fixed window recordings that could fail when you pressed Stop."
    • "macOS 27: Fewer freezes while recording."
    • "Interfaces with three or more channels no longer crash a recording."

Public user volume around CursorClip is still small. One X report from @Youpele52 (Sept 16, 2026): "Checked it twice. It crashes, doesn't save the recording, and shows a spinning beach ball indefinitely when I try to save." The founder asked for logs.

Pricing: pay once, and also subscribe

CursorClip's vs page lists export pricing as "$70 once (or $29 a year, $9 a month)". Confirm live numbers on CursorClip's site and their pricing page before you buy.

Free CursorClip lets you record and edit. Export needs a license. There is no finished file without paying.

ScreenKite is free to use with every editing feature. Free exports carry a brand watermark and an animated brand outro. One payment of $79.99 removes both, covers 3 devices, and never renews. Founder price until 2026-10-31, then $99.99. There is no ScreenKite subscription.

What CursorClip still does not claim

Per their own vs page (checked against that page's Oct 2026 text):

    • No captions or transcription
    • No AI agent editing
    • Cannot edit videos it did not record
    • No share links
    • CursorClip states it remains Mac-only with no Windows roadmap

CursorClip 2.0 and 2.1.0 do ship a timeline for one recording: cuts, trims, speed, zoom and layout sections. That is deeper than the July 2026 "zoom points only" picture. It is still not a multi-track editor with captions and B-roll.

    What we build instead

ScreenKite is built by creators who need finished demos, tutorials and product videos without waiting on a license gate to see an export.

    • Native macOSScreenKite also ships a native Windows Beta.
    • Multi-track timeline, captions, and 83 purpose-built editing tools on the same surface as your agent.
    • AI fee $0. Bring Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex, Antigravity, Grok Build or Kimi on the plan you already pay for.
    • Free to use with every editing feature. Free exports carry a watermark. Pay once for Pro if you keep it.

macOS 15 is required. If your Mac must stay on Ventura or Sonoma, CursorClip is the app that runs there. If you are on Sequoia and need captions, agents, multi-track edits or a Windows teammate, ScreenKite covers that job.

    How ScreenKite is built

The agent and the UI drive the same editor through the same tools. Some meaning-changing edits take a confirm field: confirm:false returns a plan; confirm:true applies it. That covers timeline cuts, transcript cuts, generated chapters, caption import and patch, and voiceover or camera replacement. Not every destructive tool. The Core Agent chat panel can gate on risk tiers. CLI and third-party MCP clients are not gated that way.
