Add or Remove an Audio Track on a Loom Recording

The UI take is fine. The mic take is not. Or you recorded silent UI and want a proper voiceover later. Or you need to strip system audio from one segment without muting the whole video.

That need is public on Atlassian JAC:

    • LOOM-30 — Add and remove audio within a previously recorded video

A share-page trimmer can hide a section. It is not the same as a dedicated audio track you can replace, duck, or delete.

    Short answer

Download the Loom as MP4 (or re-record in ScreenKite), then place, mute, or replace audio on ScreenKite’s multi-track timeline and export once.

There is no honest .loom project import path here — treat Loom output as media, then finish where tracks exist.

    Do it in ScreenKite (numbered)

    1. Open ScreenKite.
    2. File → Import Media… and choose the Loom MP4, or start a fresh ScreenKite recording.
    3. Confirm video sits on a video lane; open or add an audio track.
    4. To add VO or music: import MP3 / WAV / M4A / AAC and drop it on the audio lane.
    5. To remove a stem: mute or delete that clip’s audio region (or detach and delete the audio portion).
    6. Align to the playhead, trim edges, duck music under speech.
    7. Export locally. Pro removes the watermark.
    8. Share from your Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive.
    💡

Record UI first. Write the script second. Lay VO third. That separation is why multi-track editors exist — and why “add/remove audio after capture” keeps appearing on feedback boards.

    What creators actually need

    • Post-record voiceover without redoing clicks
    • Replace a bad mic take while keeping video
    • Mute one embarrassing system-audio blip
    • Keep VO, music, and system audio as separate stems

    Why ScreenKite

ScreenKite is native macOS with a full timeline editor, not only a cloud trimmer. Import media, edit audio lanes, export an MP4 you own.

The AI agent can help with cleanup passes after you place VO. Optional agent tooling via MCP / CLI is available for power users and still evolving.

    Pricing contrast (product facts)

Cloud async-video seats often bill monthly for library hosting. ScreenKite is free to create and edit; Pro removes the watermark; Pro is a one-time / founder-lifetime purchase. Host finished files on cloud storage you already own.

Cross-platform & Roadmap: macOS is fully native; the Windows native Beta application is now available for download (powered by a dedicated Direct3D/C++23 engine), with a Chrome extension in development.

Creators and teams choose it because it pairs ultra-fast local hardware exports and built-in link sharing with timeline AI agent editing via Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex, Antigravity, or Grok Build. Describe the cut; the agent does the trims.

    Tips for clean audio swaps

    • Leave a little silence at the start of the VO file so timing slides easily.
    • Put VO, music, and system audio on separate lanes.
    • Mute B-roll audio when it fights narration.
    • Normalize levels once at the end, not clip-by-clip forever.

    Conclusion

When JAC still tracks add/remove audio after record, finish on a timeline with real tracks. Import the Loom MP4 into ScreenKite (or record there), fix the stems, export once, and ship.
