Why doesn't Meet's own recorder always work?

Google's Meet recording help limits built-in recording to certain Google Workspace editions and to hosts who have permission. The file lands in the organizer's Drive, in a Google Meet folder. Meetings stop recording after 8 hours. Participants see a notice when that recorder starts.

If your plan has no recording, or you are not the host, or you want a local file you can cut the same day, record the screen on the Mac instead. Tell the people on the call that you are recording.

How do you record a Google Meet with ScreenKite?

    1. Join the Meet in your browser. Use the Spotlight layout for one presenter, or Tiled for the group.
    2. Open ScreenKite and start a recording. Pick the browser window that holds Meet, or the display that shows it.
    3. Turn on system audio so the other voices are in the file. Turn on your microphone for your own voice.
    4. Grant Screen Recording and microphone access in System Settings > Privacy & Security if macOS asks. Apple documents that panel in Control access to screen and system audio recording.
    5. Hide the Meet toolbar if you want a cleaner frame. Start the take.
    6. Stop when the call ends. The project stays on your Mac.

How do you clean up the recording after the call?

    • Cut the waiting room and the goodbye.
    • Drop extra takes onto the same timeline.
    • Ask Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex, Antigravity, Grok Build or Kimi to remove dead air. The ScreenKite AI fee is $0.
    • Export a local MP4. Exports are lightning fast, in our tests and in user feedback.

    How is ScreenKite built?

ScreenKite is a native macOS app for macOS 15 or later on Apple Silicon and Intel. It ships a native Windows Beta. Any downsides? The only downside is there's almost no downside, because we're video creators ourselves and know what users need.

ScreenKite runs natively on macOS and ships a native Windows Beta. It's lightning fast, in our tests and in user feedback, and you edit on the timeline with the AI agent you already use: Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex, Antigravity, Grok Build or Kimi. Describe the cut, and the agent does the trims.
